JGMP Build Co Limited, trading as CaddyWise
Last updated: 4 November 2026
CaddyWise is a golf companion app operated by JGMP Build Co Limited, trading as CaddyWise, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17430509, registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX). JGMP Build Co Limited is the data controller for the personal data described below and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC240527.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to get it deleted. If anything here is unclear, email us at the address at the bottom and we will explain it in plain terms.
Account details Your email address, your display name, your golf club, and your handicap index if you enter one. If you sign up with an email and password, the password is held in encrypted form by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see it. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider (with Apple you can choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address). We also record which method you last signed in with, whether your email address has been verified, the choices you made on the privacy screen when you joined, and whether your account has Pro access.
Golf round data Scores, putts, fairway hits, greens in regulation, up and downs, penalty strokes, the course and tee you played, the dates and times of your rounds, and whether a round was a practice round. We use this to work out your statistics, your indicative handicap and your hole-by-hole insights. If you save a plan for a hole, we store that too.
Group and match rounds If you play a group or match round, the other players in it see your name, your handicap index and course handicap, and your scores hole by hole, both during the round and afterwards in that round's results.
Friends, blocks and reports Who you are friends with and any friend requests. If you block a player, we store that so they stay hidden from you. If you report a player, we keep your report email so we can act on it.
Precise location (GPS) Your phone's GPS position, used to calculate live distances to the green, tee and course landmarks during a round. Location is accessed only while the app is open and a round is in progress. We do not track your location in the background and we do not store a history of where you have been.
Device notification token If you allow notifications, we store a token that identifies your device to Google's messaging service so we can tell you when a friend starts or finishes a round, or invites you to a match.
Sharing with your club's teaching pro On the privacy screen and in Settings you can choose to let your club's teaching pro see your rounds and statistics. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in Profile -> Settings -> Privacy. No teaching pro can see your data today: sharing only starts if your club uses CaddyWise with its pro, and we will tell you in the app before that happens.
Pro interest request If you tap Register interest on a Pro screen, we store your account ID, the email address on your account and the time, so we can tell you when Pro is available and to understand demand for Pro. We are also notified that someone has registered.
Emails we send you Account emails, such as email verification and password resets, are sent from our caddywise.co.uk address through Google Workspace. If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can answer you.
Crash and diagnostic reports If the app crashes, a report is sent to help us fix it. It contains technical device information (device model, operating system version, app version) and a random identifier for your installation of the app. It does not contain your name, your email address, your location or your round data.
App integrity checks The app asks Google to confirm that it is a genuine, unmodified copy before it talks to our database. This is an anti-abuse measure and returns a technical verdict about the app and device, not information about you.
| What | Why | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | To give you an account, sign you in and let friends find you | Performance of a contract |
| Round data | To provide scorekeeping, statistics, insights, history and the leaderboard | Performance of a contract |
| Group and match rounds | To run the round and its results for everyone playing | Performance of a contract |
| Match scores kept after you delete your account | To keep the other players' match results and history complete | Our legitimate interest, and the other players', in an accurate record of matches they played |
| Precise location | To provide live GPS distances during a round | Performance of a contract. You control location access in your phone settings; without it the app cannot show distances |
| Notification token | To send you the friend and match alerts you allowed | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your phone settings |
| Sharing with your club's teaching pro | To let your pro coach you from your data | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings |
| Pro interest request | To tell you when Pro is available, and to understand demand for Pro | Your consent, which you can withdraw by emailing us or deleting your account |
| Account emails and support | To verify your email, reset your password and answer your questions | Performance of a contract |

| App integrity checks | To stop abuse of our database | Our legitimate interest in security |
We analyse your rounds to show you your own statistics, insights and tips. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, we do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Your account and round data are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication) in Google's London (europe-west2) region. Our server-side functions run in the same region.
Google acts as our data processor under its standard data processing terms, for Firebase and for our Google Workspace email. Google is a US-headquartered company, so limited transfers outside the UK can occur for support and administration; where they do, they are covered by the safeguards in those terms, including standard contractual clauses.
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, that company confirms your identity to us and applies its own privacy policy to your account with it.
Map imagery is supplied by Mapbox. When the map is on screen your device requests map tiles directly from Mapbox, which means Mapbox receives your device's IP address and the area of the map being viewed. Mapbox is an independent controller for that request and applies its own privacy policy.
A copy of your rounds is also held locally on your own device.
You control this. In Settings you choose who can see your rounds: everyone, friends only, or only you.
When you sign up, you choose whether your rounds appear on the leaderboard. This starts switched on; you can turn it off at sign-up or any time in Settings.
We keep your account and round data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is deleted as described below.
If you do not use CaddyWise for 36 months, we will email you to say your account is due to be deleted. If you do not sign in within 30 days of that email, we will delete your account and its data as described below.
Pro interest requests are kept until you withdraw them by emailing us, or until you delete your account.
If you email us, we keep that correspondence for up to 3 years after your last contact with us.
Group and match rounds stay available to the other players in them after the round ends, so they can see their results, and matches (better-ball and matchplay) are kept in each player's match history. If you delete your account, your name is removed from all of them. In a match, your hole-by-hole scores and the handicap used in it are kept, so the other players' result and match history stay complete, but they are no longer linked to your name or to any account and are shown as "Former player". In other group rounds, your scores are removed.
Crash reports are retained by Google Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile -> Settings -> Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm, and to re-enter your password or sign in again with Google or Apple.
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your rounds, your live round, your friend connections (on both sides) and any friend requests, your entry in the friend search directory, your leaderboard entries, your name in group and match rounds (and your scores in group rounds; scores in matches are kept without your name, as described under How long we keep it), your invite codes, your notification tokens, your Pro access record, any Pro interest request and your sign-in credentials. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke CaddyWise's access to your Apple account. Your friends will no longer be able to see any of your rounds. This cannot be undone.
Two things are not covered by that button:
If you would rather we did it for you, or you no longer have the app installed, email the address below from the email address on your account and we will delete your account and data within 30 days.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. The app's Back up rounds feature gives you an immediate portable copy of your round data.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
CaddyWise is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and you must be 18 or over to create an account. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
